From October 14th, 2015 Trajan’s Markets – Museum of the Imperial Forums in Rome can be visited in an innovative and immersive way thanks to the experimental project “Beacon Glass Museum: the Museum of the Future”, the new technological application developed by ETT S.p.A. in collaboration with the “Young Creative” Mirko Di Ciaccio, winner of the tender. The experiment is sponsored by the Department of Culture and Sport of Rome – Cultural Heritage Capitoline Superintendence that, together with the Scientific Director of the Museum, has supported the project by devoting to the service some young people selected in the Italian Youth Guarantee Plan and providing the necessary scientific advice and documentation also from the Photo Archives and the Prints Cabinet of the Museum of Rome. The museum services are provided by Zètema Progetto Cultura. Equipped with the latest generation glasses with a small display (augmented reality viewers), when approaching the works, visitors – thanks to Beacons, low frequency Bluetooth repeaters – will discover the stories of the Museum and its characters getting all information, text, images, video or audio reproduction directly on their display. The application will be available free of charge to visitors for the next two months.
A unique and personalized experience, in one of the most prestigious museums of the Civic Museums, inserted within the largest artistic heritage of Rome, and place of great cultural wealth and vitality. Over the two months, the Museum management, ETT and the young creative will organize 10 training sessions for schools to raise awareness among young people on the active role of the New Mediaand technologies in the promotion of cultural heritage.
