After the international success of his latest film Black Souls (9 David di Donatello, 3 Silver Ribbons, 2 Golden Slates) Italian director Francesco Munzi is about to land in Hollywood. Along with Zach Baylin, he’s in fact the co-writer of a new all-American story, born from an original idea of the same Baylin, and produced by two giants, such as Studio 8 and Battle Mountain. The plot is still top secret, but it’s going to be a crime-thriller set in the suburbs of a degraded and lucrative New York; the protagonist is a young man who mentored a brilliant thief who will force him to choose between the ambition and the family. John Wells and Claire Polstein will produce the project, with Zach Studin executive producer. Jon Silk, who brought the project to Studio 8, will oversee on behalf of the company along with Bob Brassel.
For Munzi is the fourth film, and the first English language one. His directorial debut was in 2004 with Samir (Luigi De Laurentis and Venice Award), who was succeeded by the rest of the night, in 2008.
