Waterway Ireland Docklands Summer Festival

Dockland Summer Festival

16-17 May 2015

The Docklands Summer Festival utilises the unique urban setting of Grand Canal Dock to showcase exciting on water sporting activities and on land family amusements. The 2014 festival attracted 60,000 visitors over the weekend.
The festival provides people with an opportunity to enjoy an exciting urban recreational environment. The refurbished canal dock, originally build in the 1790s, now provides a world class recreation space right in the centre of Dublin. The festival’s mix of on-water activities is designed to give everybody an opportunity to participate.
The newly developed Grand Canal Plaza provides a uniquely modern and dynamic unban space. The local cafes, bars and restaurants, many of which face onto the water, provide wonderful al fresco facilities. These are complemented by many on-land activities located on Grand Canal Plaza.
On-water activates include an international wakeboarding competition, charity rubber ducky race, water sport ‘Came and Try It’ sessions and a corporate raft challenge. On-land activities include food market, corporate golf challenge, street performers, balloon artists, face painters, fun fair attractions and children’s arts venue in the Waterways Ireland Visitor Centre.”
